It's Day 13 of the challenge and we are to use a picture of a shark for our sketch today, I definitely do not have time to do this picture justice, so I just used a small part of it for some practice.

Day 12 Sgraffito Challenge
It's Day 12 and today we were to sketch something we use everyday and to make it personal. I sketched my favorite coffee cup with Hope written on it, I can't seem to go a day with out a steamy cup of coffee. This was a very quick sketch since I was tired after work and then having to shovel snow, but I'm not complaining about the snow, it's beautiful. Life happens...

Day 11 Sgraffito Challenge
It's Day 11 and the challenge is to sketch a vegetable paying attention to the texture of the vegetable. I choose broccoli because of the texture. I thought maybe a scrubber tool would work great, but found out it didn't for me. I ended up using my fingers and business card to push the powders around for the look I wanted.

Day 10 Sgraffito Challenge
Today it's Day 10 of the challenge and we are to do a sketch of a fruit in a setting. Since fruit is not my favorite thing to draw I thought of what landscape could I make with a fruit. A tree came to mind and then what can grow on a tree but an apple. When I was sketching I gave no consideration to scale or what type of tree an apple would grow on, I just had fun with it.

Day 9 Sgraffito Challenge
It's Day 9 and today our challenge was to draw a fruit using the tools we have been using in the other challenges, a found tool, fingers, and a business card. Drawing fruit is not very exciting to me and it probably shows, but if I learn something out of it, great. I drew a pear that had been cut in half.

Day 8 Sgraffito Challenge
Well it's Day 8 and our challenge is to make a tool or find something around the house to use, along with the standard use of a sifter and business card in creating our drawings. I used some drywall tape that I found in the garage.

Day 7 Sgraffito Challenge
Woohoo, today's challenge was to select something that we have laying around the house that could be used as a mark making tool. I chose a silicone basting tool that I found in my kitchen, I used it to make a look of a plowed field, or that was a least my intent.

Day 6 Sgraffito Challenge
It's Day 6 of the challenge and we are to continue to do the same as we have been doing during the last couple of days, the 5 in 5 challenge. Here is what I ended up with.

Day 5 Sgraffito Challenge
Today on Day 5 I find myself not very motivated to participate in the challenge, it seems my job sucks the life out of me, just joking, okay there is probably some truth in that statement. Anyway, the 5 in 5 challenge is quick and easy, it's just the motivation that was lacking tonight. Here is the one that I thought came out best.

Day 4 Sgraffito Challenge
It's Day 4 and the challenge today was to create 5 small pieces, setting a timer for 5 minutes for each drawing. Not such an easy task when your a person who is always in the details, but an interesting challenge for me, I needed to work quick and let perfectionism go.

Day 3 Sgraffito Challenge
Today's challenge was to continue to use your fingers and a business card to create a landscape. I found that mountains are fairly easy using the business card and that clouds were fun to make using your fingers. I am having lots of fun with this technique, but just like anything it takes lots of practice and there is only so much time.

Day 2 Sgraffito Challenge
Today's challenge was to use your fingers and a business card to create trees with powder glass. I found that I could create more textures using both of these things instead of just my fingers, I also found it's a little more difficult to get motivated after working a full day and then completing the daily challenge, but since I need much more practice and it's only Day 2, I will keep going...

Day 1 Sgraffito Challenge
Well it's now 2015 and a new year motivates me to get moving and try new things! So glad this challenge came up, it's Day 1 and I have found out that pushing around glass powder with your fingers to create something recognizable was fun but challenging.
